20th Year Celebration![]()
Good Beginnings of Central Vermont Celebrates 20th Year of Service!!February 13, 2011Good Beginnings of Central Vermont, a mother/infant free home visitation program, celebrated 20 years of serving new parents in central Vermont with a wine and cheese tasting reception at Fresh Tracks Farm, Vineyard and Winery in Berlin. The Celebration, which took place on February 13th was designed to honor the hundreds of supporters and volunteers who have served several thousand individuals in central Vermont towns over the tenure, by envisioning a mission of supporting families during the critical first weeks after birth. Founded by three Northfield mothers in 1991, Good Beginnings began with five volunteers visiting families in a few towns. Over the years the program has grown to have a core of 40 + volunteers serving families in more than 20 central Vermont towns. The heart of Good Beginnings is their personalized home visiting service. These trained volunteer mothers offer unconditional support and education two or three hours a week for up to 3 months to any family who is expecting or has a newborn birth or adopted infant, enabling a trusting relationship with the family. Good Beginning's purpose is to give every family a healthy start by providing parents with emotional and hands-on services and links to community resources at this critical juncture in their lives. Good Beginnings is well known for providing families with front infant carriers from which they might develop a good bond with the new infant. The program also encourages families in early literacy and provides fatherhood materials through the National Fatherhood Initiative.
